WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) sent letters, along with 79 members of Congress, to President Joseph Biden to address the importance of setting ambitious and achievable targets for the efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reductions of passenger vehicles through 2025. Specifically, the letters urge the Biden Administration to reinstate the Obama-Biden tailpipe emissions and fuel economy standards and the California Clean Air Act waiver, which has historically raised the bar for vehicle emission standards federally.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) reintroduced H.R. 2097, the Storage and Transportation of Residual and Excess (STORE) Nuclear Fuel Act. This bill creates a legislative framework to develop a consolidated interim storage program at the Department of Energy. It allows for both active and decommissioned nuclear power plants, with priority given to decommissioned plants, to move spent nuclear fuel to interim storage facilities.
