Citing the West Coast salmon crisis, the drought, and the Bush Administration's failed record in protecting the health of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, five Democratic members of Congress today strongly cautioned Administration officials against weakening protections for California's Bay-Delta region and asked for detailed information about how federal agencies plan to make the latest Delta rescue effort successful.

Doris Matsui (CA-05) joined an overwhelming majority of her colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives in passing the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (H.R. 6331). The bill prevents the pending 10.6 percent reduction for Medicare physicians, enhances Medicare preventive and mental health benefits, and improves and extends programs for low-income Medicare beneficiaries.
