Washington, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement on the FCC's proposal on the Lifeline program:
"I'm very concerned with the direction the FCC is taking with the Lifeline program. This program is a critical tool in our work to close the digital divide so that all Americans can do their homework online, apply for jobs, and communicate with their loved ones. We should be focusing on strengthening our efforts to ensure that every family has access to the services they need to compete in the 21st century economy."

WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) and Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06), co-chairs of the Congressional Spectrum Caucus, introduced the Spectrum Auction Deposits Act (H.R. 4109), a bill that will make it easier for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to auction off spectrum frequencies.
"Today, President Trump signed an executive order that means families will be one illness or injury away from financial ruin. Association Health Plans sold across state lines won't be subject to essential health benefits requirements, which means people will be left with bare-bones plans that don't provide coverage for basic services like hospital visits.
I am pleased we are coming together today in a bipartisan manner to reauthorize the Federal Communications Commission. The issues facing the Commission are critical to the advancement of our digital economy and to our country's prosperity.
