Today Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) marked Equal Pay Day and cosponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act, legislation that would strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and guarantee that women can challenge pay discrimination and hold employers accountable. Matsui joined Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) in cosponsoring the legislation in the House of Representatives. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) introduced the companion legislation in the Senate.
"This is a victory for American families, whose healthcare was on the line if this TrumpCare bill had passed. In Sacramento and across the country people raised their voices against this harmful legislation. I will keep fighting for them in Congress as we work to protect access to high quality healthcare in this country."
###This week the Center for Medicare andamp; Medicaid Services' (CMS) independent Actuary told leaders of the Senate Finance and House Energy andamp; Commerce Committees that Trumpcare would lead to higher Medicare Part B premiums for seniors across the country in order to provide a tax break to pharmaceutical corporations. The CMS Actuary estimated that Medicare Part B premiums would increase by $8.7 billion in total over the next ten years.
