Washington, D.C. Today, Reps. Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement commending the deal the State of California struck with leading automakers, including Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, and BMW, to promote clean air, invest in U.S. auto industry jobs, and save consumers money at the gas pump. The agreement outlines that automakers will produce vehicles that could average 50 miles per gallon (mpg) by the year 2026, which is a strong rebuke of the Trump Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) efforts to freeze the standard at 37 mpg.

Even at the pinnacle of the sporting world, recent reports show the USWNT earn as little as 38 cents on the dollar compared to the USMNT, despite winning back-to-back World Cup titles unlike their male counterparts.

"Well run" and "clean." That's how President Trump recently described children's detention centers at the U.S. border.

Having traveled last weekend to investigate detention facilities with my Democratic colleagues, I can confirm just how out of touch the president is.

We visited the "Ursula" Central Processing Center, in McAllen, Texas, where you can hear the cries of innocent children as you enter the converted warehouse.

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) announced that she and 19 Democratic colleagues will be traveling this weekend to the U.S.-Mexico border to provide critically needed Congressional oversight of human rights concerns. During this trip, Matsui will visit border patrol and central processing centers in McAllen and Brownsville, Texas, meet with humanitarian charities and organizations, and cross the Gateway International Bridge to meet with asylum seekers and migrants.
