Washington, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement on the House passage of H.R. 1, the Republican tax bill:

"House Republicans just voted for a tax bill that pulls the rug out from under families in California and across the country.

"As young people are struggling to afford college, Republicans have voted to eliminate their student loan interest deduction.

Washington, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA), along with 22 members of the House Energy andamp; Commerce Committee, sent a letter to Chairman Ajit Pai urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reconsider proposed changes to the Lifeline program.

The letter reads in part:

We should be focusing on strengthening our efforts to ensure that every family has access to the services they need to compete in the 21st century economy."
